Cosatu must address labour brokering: Minister
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant says there is a need for more discussion around the issue of labour brokers.
Speaking at Cosatu's 12th National Congress in Midrand, Oliphant says despite restrictions when it comes to casual labour some Cosatu affiliates have struck deals which keep labour brokers.

''They made an agreement that the labour brokers should continue and the condition was that the very same labour brokers pay skills levy to the union for training the shop stewards,'' she said.
Oliphant also dealt with union investments questioning how and where they invest.
''When it comes to the trade unions' investments, they say the investments are beneficiary to their members but at the same time these investments cause divisions, particularly between the national offices of those unions.
''Now the question I always ask myself is, when do workers get these benefits?,'' she added.
