Cosatu march in full swing in Durban

Members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) made their way through central Durban on Thursday in a march over the state of the economy.
They say the rising cost of living is putting more strain on workers.
Edwin Mkhize is the trade union federation's provincial secretary and is at the protest.
"We must be appreciated as workers and be paid a living wage to sustain ourselves in terms of the cost of living, which is ever-rising, but we are also saying that workers must be able to access their pension funds so that they can mitigate the challenges that they are facing of the rising cost of living to protects their assets such as housing."

They expect the Office of the Premier to accept their memorandum at City Hall.
Some of their demands are also directed at KwaZulu-Natal municipalities.
"The issue of the billing system, which we think is unfair for communities of Durban, Newcastle, Msunduzi, Umhlathuze and all other areas. Works have to pay a bigger portion of their salaries to service electricity and water."
