Cosatu concerned over municipal salary deadlocks in eThekwini
The Congress of South African Trade Unions in KZN has voiced concerns over the pay stalemate between DSW workers, uShaka Marine World staff and eThekwini.
The trade union federation has urged the city to urgently resolve the ongoing work stoppage, which has compromised service delivery.
The South African Municipal Workers' Union-affiliated employees at the Durban water park downed tools last month, requesting a 15% pay hike.
Last week, DSW workers embarked on an illegal strike, disrupting services across the municipality.
They're demanding pay rises to match the salaries of staff in other metros.
Thirteen arrests have been made, and the city has suspended some 20 employees while issuing an ultimatum for a return to work.

Meanwhile, management at uMngeni-uThukela Water decided to temporarily halt operations at its water treatment plant in Maphephetheni.
"This protest has led to an interruption of water supply to KwaNgcolosi, Mshazi and Maphephetheni," says spokesperson Siyabonga Maphumulo.
"The community's demands include the employment of only locals to work as process controllers at the plant. They also demanded that uMngeni-uThukela be responsible for the household reticulation of water, currently the responsibility of the eThekwini Municipality as the water service authority.
"Out of concern for the safety of our staff, we have had to stop production at the Maphephetheni Works until the strike is resolved."
