Concerns over increase in child abandonment cases in KZN
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Childline KZN says it's disturbed by the increase in baby and child abandonment cases - since the start of the lockdown.

In the latest incident, a newborn was found in a pit latrine in Taylor's Halt near Maritzburg this past weekend.
Plessiaslaer police have opened a case of concealment of birth against the 16-year-old mother.
Childline's Adheshini Naicker says a number of issues can cause parents to abandon their babies.
These are often tied to poverty, rape and depression.
But, she says for those who find themselves in this position -there's always another way.
"There are various options, teenagers just need to explore their options.
"There's always adoption, foster care, one can always apply for a child support grant, a social worker can assist with placing the child in a youth care facility there is always an option."
