Concerns over govt response to KZN floods misplaced, says Ramaphosa
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
President Cyril Ramaphosa says concern that authorities had neither the capacity or the will to respond efficiently and effectively to the KZN floods was misplaced.

In his weekly letter, Ramaphosa has addressed what's been done more than a month since heavy rains wreaked havoc in parts of KwaZulu-Natal, claiming at least 447 lives and displacing hundreds of people.
He says the National Disaster Management Centre has been coordinating all spheres of government to provide relief.

He's lauded the NGO community and businesses for working with government to provide assistance, saying there've seen extraordinary solidarity and support to affected communities.
Ramaphosa says shelter is being provided to over 7 000 families.
The president says there's also been progress in fixing key infrastructure that was damaged.
