Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Competition Commission has ordered e-commerce sites such as Google, Uber Eats, Takealot and Apple to take a range of steps to assist smaller companies.
Acting Deputy Commissioner James Hodge says the measures will allow smaller businesses to compete for market share.
The Competition Commission released its final report into the dominance of online retail platforms in the country on Friday.

Hodge said as part of the remedial action, Google must provide R180 million in advertising credits to local small businesses.
"To address the remedial action have focused on improving paid and organic results for the visibility of small and South African platforms.
"So here the remedial actions include that Goggle must introduce a South African flag identifier on their search page and a search filter at the top of their page in order to flitter for South African businesses, and that will help consumers who want to support South African businesses to find them easily."
