Ramokgopa: Eskom working to improve generation units
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says they are working on improving the efficiency of generation units at power plants to ease the severity of load shedding.

"They should be able to perform better and give us a significant amount of megawatts. What this means is that we want to reduce the unplanned capability, the UCLF, we want to improve the performance of the unit by reducing the partial load losses," he said on Sunday.
He says the plan is to reduce power losses and boost unit performance.
Ramokgopa updated the country on the implementation of the Energy Action Plan.

He said there's been some improvement on the load shedding front.
But he's warned a cold front - making its way into Gauteng - will affect demand.
"It is something that is worrying, and we are expecting that the demand is going to surge and if the improvements in relation to available capacity does not match those increases on the demand side."
