Community wants bail rescinded in Phoenix assault case

Community members who were outside court following the case against a Phoenix mother and her partner accused of brutally assaulting her daughter want bail to be revoked.
The 25-year-old woman and 20-year-old man made a brief appearance in the Verulam Magistrates Court yesterday.
Their case has been postponed until next month to allow for more investigations.
The 4-year-old girl was left unconscious with a bloodclot on her brain after the beating.

These Phoenix residents want the child's mother and her boyfriend, who are out on R3,000 bail, to be kept behind bars until the case is finalised.
The matter is back in court on 14th of June to allow for investigations to be completed. Although out on bail, the couple is not allowed to see the child.
