COGTA encourages saving as KZN water levels remain low

As we mark World Water Week KZN authorities are amplifying the call to save and save again.

"The province's water supply remains at low levels as a result of the drought that continues to affect large parts of the province.



Spokesperson for the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Senzelwe Mzila says World Water Week highlights the importance of sustaining the precious resource. 


Mzila's reflected on the MEC's statement saying that many communities in our province are having to deal with ongoing water outages.

Last week, the uThukela District Municipality imposed strict restrictions due to a drop in water levels at Klip River. 


"Currently in the province, the average water levels in the dams are at 56.7% which indicates that KZN is in a critical but stable place in terms of its water provision," he said.
