KZN Education says a photo circulating on social media showing a Grade 1 school pupil wearing a torn face mask, is only half the story.

The Department's Sihle Mlotshwa it's not clear who took the photo of the Inanda pupil in the classroom.
Social media users criticized the department accusing it of failing to provide PPEs to the school.
Mlotshwa says this is not true. He says officials went to the school to get to the bottom of the issue and this is what they were told.
"The learner came to school with her own mask, the reports says there she went for break time."
