Updated | By Steve Bhengu
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala says with all the disasters experienced in recent years, those still in denial about climate change do so at the expense of human life.
He was speaking during the first-ever sitting of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Council at the Durban ICC on Wednesday.
The council is chaired by the premier himself, and is made up of all members of the provincial cabinet, as well as experts in fields of research, academia and business.

"During the Easter time of 2019, we suffered the loss of life, homes were damaged and infrastructure was destroyed by the storm that took place and in 2020 alone, a number of heavy rains lead to flood across various parts of our province.
"So our response from today must show that we are alert to these challenges."
