Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The Chatsworth school that was closed after a teacher was assaulted has re-opened its doors to pupils.
Classes were put on hold at M Padavatan Primary on Friday after a Grade 7 teacher was attacked by suspected gang members in the parking lot.
According to some parents, the teacher had hit a child on the back of the head during a lesson.

KZN Education's Muzi Mahlambi says this is not the first time a teacher has been attacked at the school.
"On Monday, educators protested and did not want to go to school until a second manager had to intervene. Years ago, a newly appointed principal was assaulted. At that time, educators were in support of the principal. There's going to be an SGB meeting to discuss the safety and security at the school this week," he said.
Police investigations are also underway. No arrests have been made.
