Cholera cases should spark concern - SAMA
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
With two cases of Cholera confirmed in the country, the South African Medical Association says government should focus on what's going on the country's streets and with infrastructure.
"Where there is lots of sewage on the streets and that could lead to more serious problems than the two cases of Cholera. I think the ministry should be worried about the state of municipalities and how the sewage is running," says Dr Mvuyisi Mzukwa.
The Health Department announced the cholera cases on Sunday.

It says two sisters who'd recently returned to South Africa after attending a funeral in Malawi became infected.
Mzukwa says issues such as poor sanitary conditions can negatively impact the health system.
"If you have Cholera on top of the E.coli that we see it could lead to problems even with our drinking water because we are talking about transmissible diseases.
"Authorities need to make sure that our sanitation is in good order."
