Two cases of cholera confirmed in SA

The Health Department has urged vigilance after two cases of cholera were confirmed in the country.
It says laboratory tests from two sisters who recently travelled to Malawi came back positive.
Officials say the women travelled together from Johannesburg to attend a funeral and returned by bus last Monday.
Both sisters had development symptoms on their return to South Africa.
The department's Foster Mohale says a close contact of one of the cases was admitted to hospital on Saturday and is considered a possible case pending test results.
"One patient presented to a local clinic and was then admitted to hospital.
"During the case investigation and follow-up of close contacts, the sister reported that she also developed diarrhoea whilst travelling back from Malawi, but it resolved within a day and she did not seek healthcare.”
