A child is among the six people that died in a tragic multi-vehicle crash in Port Edward, on the South Coast late on Monday.
A truck, two bakkies and a car collided along the R61 near the Umtamvuna Bridge.
The bakkie and car had crashed head-on, resulting in the occupants becoming entrapped in the wreckage.
KZN Private Ambulance's Craig Botha says the cause of the collision is unclear at this stage.

"Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found 3 patients had sustained critical injuries of which one was a child approximately 10 years old. Two further patients had sustained serious injuries, of which one was a 4-year-old child.
“The patients were treated on scene before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.
“Sadly the six occupants sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived."
