Cele tackles driver employment in meeting with truck owners
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Police Minister Bheki Cele has challenged truck owners to review their employee lists.

He's met with several truck owners in Durban today, following the torching of trucks in Mooi River last week and blockades in Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
In some of the incidents, foreign drivers were targeted and pulled out of their vehicles.
At Mooi River, seven trucks were set alight on Thursday.
Those behind the attacks are apparently unhappy with the employment of foreign drivers by transport companies.

Cele says they have asked for employment figures.
"That's one area. The question was raised - how many foreign drivers are there - nobody knows, how many South African drivers - nobody knows. We said let's go for verification and talk about the figures we know. If there is a skill shortage - we can all be responsible to improve on that," he said.
