N3 truck fire: Business counting the costs
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A business owner whose truck was one of seven heavy duty vehicles torched on the N3 Mooi River on Thursday says losing his truck has put huge strain on his business.
Ashian Nunkoo says he was asleep when a call came through notifying him of the attack. that was carrying two containers from Johannesburg to Durban. Nunkoo says he is looking at a damage bill of around R1 million.
He wants the government to intervene.
"We are now down a vehicle which cannot generate revenue for us while we continue to pay for its instalments. We are also unable to service our clients. Our clients will now probably be concerned we cannot handle the work as our fleet has now been reduced," Nunkoo said.
