Cele: Police chasing strong leads in Newcastle farm murder case
Updated | By Newswatch
Police Minister Bheki Cele says investigators have strong leads in the murder case of an elderly Newcastle farming couple.
Glen and Vida Rafferty were ambushed on their farm in Normandien as they returned home on Saturday night.
Their killers ransacked their house and fled in their car - which was later found abandoned.
The couple's dog was also killed.

Cele visited the family on Wednesday to offer his support and also meet with the local farming community.
He says they're working to improve safety resources in the area.
"We have committed to come back to the community in two to three weeks to say, what can we do together.
"They [farmers] have raised the issue here saying the station doesn't have enough police and they are 28, and nine cars.
"But the National Deputy Commissioner has been tasked to do the assessment and see if we can work on the adequacy of the resources working together," says Cele.
One of the family members told Cele that Glen was an incredible man who was truly part of the community.
"He grew up Zulu. He was apart of the community. It didn't matter white or black. We understand as a family that this is not a political or a race thing - it's a criminal thing and if he was here now he would say that.
