Caution for motorists travelling towards City Hall precinct
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Durban Metro Police say officers are in the CBD helping direct traffic around the City Hall precinct.
Disgruntled municipal workers brought the city centre to a standstill earlier.
Several major routes into Durban were also barricaded with eThekwini vehicles. Workers are unhappy over salary increases allegedly afforded to MK Vets.
They're demanding equal pay for equal work.
Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersadh says some roads are still off-limits around City Hall.
"Immediately around City Hall - that is Smith and Field, West and Aliwal is closed. The employees of the Durban Municipality are still on Church Walk - outside the City Hall. Incoming to the city, traffic is moving freely but motorists must stay away from the City Hall precinct area."
