Cash payments, cattle exchanged for teacher posts at KZN school
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Department of Education in KZN has warned against using teaching posts and service providers for personal gain.

The department has launched an investigation into Nkolongwane Primary in Vryheid.
Some governing body members have been accused of soliciting money from potential service providers in exchange for posts.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says the matter was brought to their attention by one of the accused under the guise of whistleblowing.
"He is very clumsy, and as a department, we take this matter in a very serious light. Fortunately, or unfortunately for him, he is going to make an affidavit from the police station. We will apply for a joinder because we are an interested party in the matter."
Mahlambi says several cash payments, with some as high as R120 000 and cattle were traded.
"The investigation will find out as to how long they have been doing this, but what we have gathered is that there was first R80 000 thousand that was paid that was paid by the deputy principal, and there were 120 and 3 cattle given to these governing body members."
