Since the start of this month, thousands of beneficiaries have been forced to collect their payouts at various retailers after Postbank said a late delivery of cash at its branches meant they would be unable to service beneficiaries.

Postbank's Dr Bongani Diako says as of Tuesday afternoon, the majority of branches affected received cash deliveries.

He says as of Wednesday, only a handful of branches were yet to receive cash consignments.

"This morning, we were looking at around 11 branches that had not as yet received cash on hand. So obviously, the numbers changed as cash that has been delivered between 9 and 10 in the morning, but we will provide an update."

He says grant beneficiaries should still make use of retailers, as Postbank has chosen not to disclose which branches either have or are yet to receive cash for obvious security reasons.

"Where you have an alternative nearby, and you do need your money urgently, rather use ATMs and retailers, because the money is there - it is in the account, instead of waiting for when the cash is delivered because there is a dependency of time there."
