Case against 'racist' Durban man adjourned to end of January

The case against the Durban man facing charges of crimen injuria following a racist rant on Facebook - has been adjourned until the end of the month.
Dawie Kriel appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court a short while ago.
Magistrate TN Sishi adjourned the matter to January 27 - after Kriel changed his legal representation. The adjournment will allow his new attorney time to prepare a plea statement.

Charges were laid against the Bluff resident after he posted offensive comments about Hindus during Diwali last year.
The ANC, DA and SA Hindu Maha Sabha have been following the case.

"Complaints were coming in almost every minute, where people were demanding that we take some action. Because the attitude was "enough is enough" - that people are continually making racist attacks on a community, and getting away with it," he said.
