Caluza clinic robbed on Christmas Eve
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Public service unions are urging communities to partner with security guards to protect workers after two public institutions were targeted by robbers this week.

At the Caluza Clinic in Pietermaritzburg, three men robbed staff of their belongings on Christmas Eve.
It's understood that they pretended to be patients and assaulted the guards with a firearm.
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa says communities can help fight the attacks on public servants.

"Also, what we need to emphasize on is to call on the community to work hand in hand with health care facilities because we can’t close the clinic. These services are needed by the community,” says spokesperson, Mbali Sabela
In a separate incident, teachers at a primary school in Mariannhill were robbed off their laptops and cell phones.
"We continue getting information regarding robbery, burglary and break-ins which is troubling us, so it is concerning,” says sadtu spokesperson, Nomarashiya Caluza.
