Calm returns to protest-hit Reservoir Hills
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The
Reservoir Hills community has been dampening down the flames of this morning's
protests along Quarry, Spencer and Varsity Drive roads.
Kevin Naidoo, who's among the residents cleaning up, says the situation is now calm.
"They blocked all the intersections coming into and out of Reservoir Hills and Varsity Drive and Quarry Road. They blocked with binbags, logs, and amateur barriers and set alight all the bin bags.
“Metro was on the scene, with SAPS and a lot of the community members and patrollers are here trying to reopen the roads and clean up the debris."

Reservoir Hills resident Viren Suraj says the demonstrators, are believed to be from the Quarry Road Informal Settlement.
"Apparently they want new houses because their ones got burnt off recently."
