Calls to investigate allegations of relief aid mismanagement in KZN
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal says it's concerned about allegations of food parcel mismanagement involving its members.
Relief aid is being distributed in several areas to the province's poor.
Some councillors have been accused of politicising the much-needed assistance by handing parcels out only to party supporters.
ANC Provincial Secretary, Mdumiseni Ntuli says they have asked the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) to investigate the claims and those found guilty of wrongdoing will be brought to book.
Ntuli says party members taking pictures or videos of themselves handing out food parcels - will be dealt with.
"We consider this conduct as insensitive, devoid of humanity and inconsistent with the value system of our movement."
"The PEC knows and remains convinced that it is possible to help our people to overcome hunger and poverty without parading that work through social media."
