Calls for Ramaphosa to outline service delivery plans

As President Cyril Ramaphosa prepares to deliver his Opening of Parliament Address on Thursday evening, there have been calls for a message on plans to improve service delivery and fix dysfunctional municipalities

Ramaphosawill outline the seventh administration's broad goals and long-term vision for the next five years. 


Sivuyile Mbambo, who's with local government association Salga, believes the president's speech should address governance and service delivery challenges. 


“The 30 year review report recognises that building a capable, ethical and developmental state requires prioritising and improving the governance in fiscal sustainability of local government leading to 2030,” says Mbambo.


Meanwhile crime prevention and security cluster - NATJOINTS says law enforcement teams are ready for any eventuality at Cape Town City Hall.  


The police's Athlenda Mathe says they've rolled out a high-density plan.

“Operations under Operation Shanela are continuing  through increased roadblocks, vehicle checkpoints, high police visibility on foot, vehicle, mounted and air patrols will be conducted. We affirm our state of readiness, law enforcement agenicies are already on the ground."
