Cable theft leaves residents of Clare Estate in the dark for days
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Residents of Durban's Clare Estate say they've been left with no choice but to throw away some of their food due to extended power outages.

The area's been without electricity for several days.
Local councillor Alicia Kissoon says this is due to ongoing cable theft.
"Residents have stockpiled Christmas groceries and had to throw them away. This is a terrible waste and is actually due to cable theft.

"In ward 23 we've been experiencing cases of cable theft every single day in the last months after load shedding. It is absolutely unfair that residents already cash-strapped have to suffer the consequences of cable theft."
Kissoon says eThekwini technical teams have been on the ground fixing the issue.
