'Business as usual' following Richards Bay civic centre blaze
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The City of uMhlathuze says it will be business as usual at its Civic Centre offices in Richards Bay today.
A fire led to the evacuation of staff members yesterday.
Reports from the scene are that the blaze broke out in the kitchen.
It's understood that a contractor repairing the roof in the morning was busy with a welding project too close to a leak.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire in the kitchen.

uMhlathuze's Bongani Gina says the contractors assured them that the damages to the municipal building will be covered by their insurer.
No one was hurt.
“We don't know up to how much the damage would be but the company on site, a construction company will be taking care of that. Normally it will be coming from the council and the City of uMhlatuze to fix the damage."
