The brother of an NFP councillor in Msinga who was murdered last year is testifying at the Moerane Commission of Inquiry, which is now sitting in Pietermaritzburg.
Musawankosi Zondi has told the commission how his sister, Nompumelelo Zondi experienced hardship after joining the NFP soon after the party's formation.
Zondi says he had asked his sister to step down as a PR councillor so that someone else could fill the position.
He says she refused and the first attempt on her life was made soon after.
"She then saw a group of men enter her yard, coming closer towards her house where she lived alone. They surrounded the house. They were armed and when they entered the house they could not find her because she managed to get out of the house and hide outside, where she could watch them. She called me and I suggested she come stay with me at Dumbe for a while," he said.
Zondi says his sister died on the second attempt on her life in March last year.
