Broader talks needed on death penalty: Minister

Deputy Justice Minister, John Jeffery says South Africa should tread carefully on the issue of the death penalty.

He was responding to young people during a dialogue, at the Higher Education Aids Conference at the Durban ICC.
Jeffery says there needs to be broader discussion around the issue.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Mduduzi Manana had to intervene as youth delegates fought to get more questions in directed at panelists during the dialogue.
One young lady had been in the middle of asking why not enough is done by government to highlight hate crimes against gays and lesbians, when the facilitator intervened.
