'Bring it on': Mbalula on looming 30% US tariffs
Updated | By Andile Tsotetsi
ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says South Africa will not compromise its sovereignty or abandon economic redress policies, even if it means facing sanctions.

He says the party will not bow to external pressure, especially from Western powers like the United States.
"If it means we're going to suffer through sanctions as leaders of the ANC, let it be. We'll never back imperialists to subvert our democracy and sovereignty.

"It happened during the period of struggle. It'll happen even now. We will never forsake our country, which we fought, for Its liberation. If they want to bring sanctions on us, let them bring them."
Mbabula made the remarks during a briefing on Wednesday on the outcomes of the NEC meeting last weekend.
South Africa faces a 30% U.S. tariff on exports, set to take effect on Thursday.
