BREAKING: 31 prisoners escape as police van ambushed in PMB
31 prisoners have made a run for it after a police truck was attacked travelling en-route from Pietermaritzburg's New Prison to the Magistrates Court.
Police say five armed suspects stopped and blocked the vehicle by a bridge on Devonshire Road this morning.
They then allegedly pointed firearms at the police officers and forced them to open the rear of the truck.

31 of the 45 prisoners that were in the truck escaped.
