Former KZN Hawks head, Johan Booysen has continued from where the former head of IPID Robert McBride left off at the state capture Commission of inquiry, describing the rot in the police system.

Booysen says former KZN police commissioner, Mmamonye Ngobeni was adamant to stop an investigation into national police officials and politically linked businessman, Toshan Panday.

This is the same investigation McBride said the NPA failed to prosecute during his time at IPID.

Booysen says that throughout his four-decade long career, he's earned a Degree in Policing and was trained by the FBI both in the US and South Africa.

This is the fourth time he has been called to give evidence at an inquiry.

Booysen has told the Commission that until 2010, his career record was untainted.

"The trigger for the change in my experience in the police - came about in 2010 when I initiated a corruption investigation into the business of a wealthy businessman in KwaZulu-Natal, Toshan Panday and his links with certain senior officials," he said.
