Fees Must Fall activist Bonginkosi Khanyile showed up at court on Friday after missing his appearance earlier this week.
A
warrant of arrest was issued for him on Monday when he failed to appear in the
Durban Magistrate's Court for his case related to the unrest.
His family later said in a statement that he was in hospital after waking up with severe flu symptoms.

Khanyile is accused of being one of the instigators of the violence in July.
He is facing charges of inciting public violence and holding an illegal gathering.
"Today in court Khanyile provided a medical certificate for his absence and this was accepted by the court. The matter was postponed to the 8th of February for a pretrial conference,” says the National Prosecuting Authority's KZN spokesperson Natasha Kara.
