Bonela councillor raises concerns over increase in violent crime

A ward councillor in Bonela in Durban says they
have noted a spike in violent crime in the area recently.

A man was arrested after five people were wounded in a stabbing spree near Westmead Road yesterday.
He allegedly began stabbing people at random.

Members of the public managed to restrain him before police arrived.
Ward 30 councillor Warren Burn joined members of the CPF who went to the scene.
"The reasons for the stabbings are, at this stage, unknown but the perpetrator is in custody. Unfortunately, some of the injuries seem to be serious and at least one person is in hospital.
There have been a number of incidents in the Bonela area over the last three or four days and it's not clear whether the perpetrator is linked to those other incidents but hopefully detective work will be able to identify whether this perpetrator was involved."
