Body of stabbed teen girl found in Newlands East

A teenage girl has been found dead in the north of Durban.
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshunda says her body was discovered on Dorado Crescent in Newlands East on Tuesday morning.
"Police in Newlands East are investigating a case of murder for an incident in which a 15-year-old girl was found dead. She was found with stab wounds, and the motive of the killing is unknown at this stage."

Local Ward Councillor Allan Petersen was at the scene.
He says the community is devastated.
"If there is one thing that creates a huge pain for our community is when a life is lost, especially a young child - it is totally heartbreaking.
"To our understanding, it does not seem like the young lady a crime was committed on the scene, if you look at the surrounding. It seems like she came from a different location. With regards to identification of the victim, I still don't know her."

The murder comes as another woman is recovering in hospital after being shot at a Pietermaritzburg petrol station.
SAPS spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says she had tried to break up a fight on Monday night.
"An employee who was allegedly shot by a suspect while she was at a business premises. She was rushed to hospital for medical attention."
An attempted murder case has been opened.
