Body of 12-year-old drowning victim recovered in Groutville

The body of a 12-year-old boy who drowned in Groutville while trying to cross the Mvoti River has been recovered by police search and rescue divers.
The child had been trying to cross the river when he lost his footing and was swept away.

IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says police divers, lifeguards and the KwaDukuza Fire Department assisted in the search after the boy's friend reported him missing.
"A three-hour operation concluded and handed over to local authorities after the boy was found under the [seven metre depth] of water. An inquest docket has been opened," he said.
