Body of drowning victim recovered in Port Edward

Police divers have recovered the body of a man who drowned at a Glenmore Lagoon in Port Edward, on the KZN south coast.

The National Sea Rescue Institute says the 25-year-old, who's from the Eastern Cape, disappeared while he was swimming in Tongazi River on Sunday.
Spokesperson Craig Laminon says lifeguards on duty raised the alarm when they couldn't locate him.

"During a search, police divers located and recovered the body of the man from under water.
"Sadly, the man was declared deceased. The body of the man was taken into the care of police and government health forensic pathology services. Police have opened an inquest docket."
