Biker dies in R56 crash near PMB

A biker has been killed in a crash involving a light motor vehicle on the R56 near the France location outside Pietermaritzburg.

Midlands EMS spokesperson, Derrick Banks says the bike was found lying on the road while the car had rolled onto its side. Banks says the 53-year-old biker was declared dead at the scene.
"It's believed that a light motor vehicle travelling from the Richmond side - going towards Pietermartizburg - collided with the motorcyclist."
Banks says there was severe damage to the passenger side of the motor vehicle.
"The necessary authorities were on scene and will investigate," Banks said.
