Bheki Cele says officials keeping a close eye on KwaMashu Hostel
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Police Minister Bheki Cele has labelled the notorious KwaMashu Hostel, a haven for criminals in KZN.
Cele says the hostel requires new Hawks head - Godfrey Lebeya's attention. Cele outlined the work ahead of Lebeya in Durban on Friday.
The men wanted in connection with the fatal hijacking of Kelly Chetty in Avoca on Thursday were traced to the hostel. Two suspects were shot dead in KwaMashu on Friday morning.
The third suspect was arrested later that day.
"That hostel needs the Hawks' eyes. It appears that everyone that we chase in this province - whether they kill police in Greytown - we still find them in that hostel. It's a hostel we need to look at closely going forward," Cele said.
