Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga

eThekwini Municpality officials from the Expanded Publics Works Programme dissected the 15 meter whale, and used excavators to dispose it's heavy remains.

The whale is believed to have been between four and six tonnes. Jennifer Olbers, a marine ecologist told ECR Newswatch the whale was between 18 and 20-years-old.
According to Olbers, the whale has been dead for several days. Samples of the remains were taken to determine the cause of death.
On Monday, smaller pieces of the remains were being removed by hand.
Local resident, Jaycee Daniels says he has to cover his nose when passing by.
