Bathers cautioned to only swim at lifeguard protected beaches
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The National Sea Rescue Institute is appealing to bathers to swim only at beaches protected by lifeguards.

As we return from Christmas Day, spokesperson Craig Lambinon is urging child minders to keep a close eye on children at swimming pools.
He says the public and coastal tourists must, at all times, swim within lifeguard posted flags and the stated times.

He says, "Caution is advised in and around inland waters, rivers and lakes, dams and swimming pools at home should have child proof covers and surrounding fences."
Lambinon also appeals to the caregivers and parents, " Make sure that your children have responsible adult supervision around water if they are swimming. A parent of caregiver must have a designated person who physically watches the children while they swimming, drowning is silent."
