Ballito businessman claims R167m Powerball winnings
Updated | By Newswatch
A Ballito businessman's life just got a whole lot better.
The 67-year-old finally came forward to claim his R167 million Powerball Jackpot winnings after last week Friday's draw.
Ithuba says the man purchased his ticket with a wager of R150 using the quick-pick selection.
"The excited yet anxious man found out that he had won the jackpot through checking his ticket numbers on the internet. Before approaching the Ithuba regional office in Durban to claim his winnings on Tuesday, 15 February, he had only told his immediate family and had kept his ticket in a safe."
Ithuba says this is the second-highest Jackpot win since 2019's R232 million Jackpot win.
Apparently, the man is an avid golfer who enjoys strolling on the beach says he won't make any drastic changes to his current lifestyle but plans to travel more.

With clearing his debt and making investments being his primary concern, the multi-millionaire says he'll also be donating some of his winnings to charity.
Ithuba says, like all other past winners of R50 000 and above, the Ballito man will receive trauma and financial counselling, free of charge.
"With this recent big PowerBall jackpot win, it shows that there are various ways that tickets can be played through buying them at a retailer or playing through one of our digital channels, players have the option of selecting numbers manually or via quick-pick," says Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
