Jaqueline Legoabe was arrested in Pretoria on Wednesday for alleged tax evasion worth R17.7 million.

The NPA's Investigating Directorate says she faces 30 counts of fraud for allegedly failing to declare and misrepresenting some of her income tax returns to the South African Revenue Service.

"What is key and pivotal in this particular arrest is because we discovered the tax evasion through investigations of what we are seeing were money being channelled from various sub-contractors of Eskom," says spokesperson Sindisiwe Sebokwa.

"As the Investigating Directorate working with SARS we have been hard at work to ensure that we bring to book many matters in which we allege that state capture could possibly have taken place."

Legoabe was released on bail of R10 000.
