Bail bid in Clairwood boys case set for March

The women accused of the murder two young Durban boys have made another brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate's Court.

The case has been postponed until next month for a formal bail application. 

The women were arrested after best friends - Luyanda Msomi and Njabulo Mankayi went missing from outside their school in Clairwood - south of the city in November. 

The families of 10-year-olds Luyanda and Njabula packed into Court 10 earlier. 

The two accused in the matter were expected to apply for bail - but it emerged that Amahle Maliwa's house was burnt down - allegedly by community members

Maliwa - believed to be the mastermind behind the murders - was then asked to provide an alternate address for verification. Her co-accused - Liziwe Ngwayishe decided to apply for bail with Maliwa on the 13th of March. 

The State says it will oppose bail. The bodies of the Clairwood Boys' Primary School pupils were found two days apart. 

Luyanda's body was found in Montclair, Njabula's in a canal near the Durban Harbour.
