The South African Football Association's CEO Teboho Motlanthe announced Molefi Ntseki's sacking a short time ago.

He says the decision to part ways with Ntseki was taken by SAFA's NEC today.

It follows Bafana Bafana's failure to qualify for the African Cup of Nations over the weekend.

The team suffered a two-nil defeat to Sudan on Sunday.

A draw against the northeast African country would have booked Bafana a spot in the continental championship - set to take place in January, next year in Cameroon.

Motlanthe said SAFA’s national executive committee agreed that it’s time for Ntseki to be relieved of his role as coach.

"There are still administrative issues which need to be attended to, so one will just say in terms of the NEC resolutions, they have resolved to part ways with the coach and all admin things that have to do with legal are still outstanding."

A new coach will be announced next week.

"What is going to happen here is that Mr Maluleke and his committee will give us direction and we hope that we will reconvene next week to give you the process which will unfold going there but I think they were mindful of that,” said Motlanthe.
