Chatsworth baby murder: Court to hear of mother's mental state
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Questions will be asked in the Durban High Court today about the mental state of the woman accused of murdering her three-year-old Chatsworth toddler.

Her defence lawyer has called a neuro-psychologist to give testimony on her assessment. The mother is on trial along with child's grandmother.
The trial resumed yesterday and saw Baby X's mother being questioned extensively on a car accident in 2001.
Her attorney, Murray Pitman is arguing that she does not have the required capacity to be held criminally responsible for her actions as a result of the crash.

Judge Mohini Moodley asked her yesterday if she received a pay-out for the accident.
She replied saying she received money in 2014 but had already been arrested in connection with Baby X's death.
The toddler was found raped and killed in her Chatsworth home three years ago - sparking a public outcry.
