Case of Chatsworth baby adjourned
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Baby X murder trial has been adjourned for the day - to allow the next witness time to read through case documents.
The three-year-old girl's mother was questioned by Judge Mohini Moodley in the Durban High Court earlier.
The toddler's mother and grandmother are accused of her murder in Chatsworth three years ago.
The neuro-psychologist brought in by the defence was meant to take the stand this afternoon but needed more time to be brought up to speed with the court proceedings to date.
The witness will testify tomorrow and share with the court her assessment of baby X's mother.
Wearing a thick grey jacket with her hair tied up, the little girl's mother responded to all questions put to her this morning.
She was asked about her relationship with her daughter's father, money she received after her car accident and her contact with her other children.
The child's grandmother showed no emotion as she sat in the sat in the dock. Baby X's mother sparked outrage in the Chatsworth community when details of the crime first emerged in court.
