Authorities have raided the Johannesburg home of National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

The National Prosecuting Authority's Investigating Directorate says the five-hour raid was in connection with corruption allegations related to Mapisa-Nqakula's tenure as defence minister.
NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga says it was a search and seizure operation.
"This is related to an investigation conducted by the NPA's ID.”

Parliament’s spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says the search interrupted Mapisa-Nqakula's diary, including presiding over President Cyril Ramaphosa's question and answer session.
“This operation is linked to the agency's widely publicised investigation into the alleged corruption reportedly involving the speaker’s tenure as minister of defence and military veterans. She welcomed the investigators into her home this morning, cooperating fully during the extensive search."
