NPA to add racketeering charges in vehicle branding case

The NPA's Investigating Directorate has been granted permission to add racketeering charges to the multi-million-rand police vehicle branding corruption case.
It's alleged procurement documents were manipulated, and false price quotations were provided for the branding job.
There were apparently over 200 instances of these fraudulent activities between April 2016 and 2019.
Around 65 people are implicated after the State withdrew charges against six people.

The ID's Sindisiwe Seboka says the acting National Director of Public Prosecutions granted the racketeering certificate on Wednesday.
"The quotation allegations involves various services such as installation, state motor vehicle repairs, gardening services forklift services and painting services with the total value of over R56 million.”
The accused are due in the High Court in Pretoria in May.
